I have wanted to write something similar to this wonderful column since I arrived here in Jamaica. I have hesitated for a couple of reasons, one being that I am “foreign”. However, I have had similar experiences up to the point that I have been scared for my safety. So I am grateful that Karen Lloyd was featured in Sunday’s Gleaner. Please read her column. It is an accurate and universal (mostly) portrait of what a woman experiences as she moves around Jamaica alone. It doesn’t matter what you wear, how old you are, the colour of your skin, women here are harassed regularly.
